The Artist

JO I Z
"JO" represents my given name, Joyce. During my childhood and still until this day, my parents call me JoJo as a nickname.
The "I" stands for individual - highlighting that this is my first personal project - something that I can wholeheartedly called mine. It emphasises the uniqueness of my creations and the singular expression of my creative visions.
The "Z" represents my surname which is of Congolese origin and carries the meaning of "problem solving". (Oil paint technically allows me to do that by being slow drying)
My name is Joyce. I’m 23 years old from London. I've been painting for around 8 years. However, my art journey took an unexpected pause when I pursued a degree in stress - I mean Architecture. While architecture refined my creative thinking, I found myself drifting away from painting, unsure if I would ever go back to it again. In 2024, I reignited my passion for it and turned it into my little side hobby. The process of creating felt both nostalgic and refreshing. I realised that art was not just a skill but a deeply personal and therapeutic out-let-one that allowed me to explore ideas, and not be bound to the constraints of grades or teacher expectations. Now, I am fully embracing my art journey, finding the fun in creating without limitations.
Hope you like it.
